Over the last 25 years Chryso has developed a unique comprehensive know-how regarding Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (FRC).

Chryso®Fibre expertise

The right use of fibres has many benefits for the concrete. They increase its structural performance and durability. Fibres are also used to control cracking due to plastic and drying shrinkage.
Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (FRC) expertise is especially based on :

  • Our deep understanding of concrete properties and mix design
  • Years of continuous R&D on fibres key characteristics and performances.
  • Multiple collaborations with customers, industrials, academics and public bodies
  • Working on prestigious jobsites

Chryso provides a large and innovative range of natural and synthetic fibres.
Combined with Chryso®Fibre Expertise , customers enjoy the value created by a global, optimized and easy-to-use FRC solution supported by in-field experts.

microfibre

Micro-fibres

Micro fibres are mainly used against the formation of plastic shrinkage cracks. This leads to an improved durability and a better aesthetic.

Chryso natural micro fibres can be used to optimize your concrete carbon footprint.

macrofibre

Macro-fibres

Macro-synthetic fibres enhance durability, thoughness and the ability to provide structural capacity when properly designed.

These fibres are easier to use compared to steel fibres due to steel fibres due to lighter weight, a non-corrosive nature and the ability to be pumped with ease.

Benefits from the Chryso®Fibre solutions

reduced shrinkage

Reduced shrinkage induced cracking

microfibres reduce very efficiently the risk for plastic shrinkage induced cracking.

Time saving vs traditional reinforcement

fibers considerably facilitate contractors’ job through the suppression of expensive and stringent steel mesh cutting and overlap or incorrect positioning.
technology robustness

Durability improvement

most demanding surface finish quality, including decorative concrete
reduce co2 emissions

CO2 optimization

Chryso® fibre-reinforced concrete applications

Flooring applications

Residential and industrial floors macrofibres:

CHRYSO®Macrofibre range is used as an alternate system to conventional reinforcing such as wire mesh and steel rebar in residential floors, foundations and toping slabs. Use of Chryso Macrofibres fast tracks the completion of the project while allowing for superior durability and significant savings.

Self leveling screeds microfibres / macrofibres:

Depending on the screed technology used and local regulation, fibres are often used to enhance the robustness (cracking control) of self leveling screeds. Chryso offers high performance fibres designed to preserve the perfect finish and high pumpability required for high flowability screeds.
Chryso fibres are also compatible with heated floors. No disruption, just higher performance.

BENEFITS :

  • Perfect finish
  • Superior durability
  •  Savings (time, labor, material)
  •  Easy to use
Shotcrete tunneling application

Underground jobsites

Spalling may be a violent effect to fire-exposed concrete destroying the entire cross-sections or reducing the load-bearing capacity of a construction substantially. The network of large capillaries created by vaporized fibres allows for internal steam exhaust, thus preventing fire-spalling for several hours.
Chryso offers a full range of proven anti-fire spalling fibres and its expertise in adapted mix designs, especially for tunnel segments.

As a part of its complete range of tunneling solutions, Chryso dedicated macro-fibres allow for meeting the requirements of class
A, B and C shotcrete (EFNARC or ASTM standards). These fibres are designed for easy pumping, maximum rebound reduction and ultimate tensile strengths performances.
Combined with CHRYSO®Jet range of admixtures and our dedicated concrete mix-design know-how, they ensure a flawless and successful operation throughout the project.

BENEFITS :

  • Anti-spalling fibres
    • Prevents fire spalling for several hours
  • Fibres for sprayed concrete
    • Easy pumpability
    • Maximum rebound reduction
    • Ultimate tensile strengths performance

Precast

Patented solution for pipes

CHRYSO®Macrofibres are also used to replace conventional
steel reinforcement in concrete pipes. This patented solution is a breakthrough as it allows for drastic performance enhancement and cost savings. Especially: no need for steel reinforcement manufacturing and superior pipe durability in aggressive environments.

Precast vaults, manholes, panels

CHRYSO®Fibre solutions can bring value to a wide range of precast applications. Cracking control, elements lightening, durability enhancement, steel cost reduction are only few examples of the results at the reach of your hand.
Chryso’s offer combines a unique mix design expertise and a wide range of fibres compatible with almost all precast processes andconcrete element specifications.

BENEFITS :

  • Less or no more steel reinforcements
  • Enhanced durability
  • Cracking control
  • Lightening of the elements
  • Safer handling

Decorative concrete

Synthetic fibers, help protect fresh concrete from shrinkage induced cracking (caused by rapid surface dessication) and thermal cracking (caused by stresses as the concrete heats up during curing and then cools off). Once the concrete has hardened, they help cracked sections hang together.
Fibres also prevent segregation.
Natural fibres improve the concrete hydration process and enhance color and surface finish…

BENEFITS :

  • Improved durability
  • Aesthetics
  • Reduced cracking
